Learning is most meaningful when it serves others. At Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», community engagement is woven into the student experience, providing opportunities to apply knowledge, collaborate with community partners, and make a meaningful impact while preparing for careers that improve lives.
Why Community Engagement Matters
Through service, partnerships, research, outreach, and leadership, our students, faculty, and staff work alongside organizations throughout Southern California and beyond to improve health, strengthen communities, and prepare the next generation of biotechnology and healthcare leaders. Whether providing health education, supporting nonprofit organizations, conducting community-based research, mentoring future scientists, or leading service projects, our students gain practical experience while making a meaningful difference. These experiences reinforce classroom learning and demonstrate that serving patients begins long before graduation.

Student Organizations
Student clubs regularly organize volunteer opportunities, health outreach events, fundraising initiatives, educational programs, and community partnerships.
Active student organizations in the community include which aims to empower the community through mentorship, health outreach, and service.
Team Projects & Capstones
Through Team Master's Projects, Team Design Projects, capstones, and community-based research, students collaborate with organizations to solve real-world healthcare and biotechnology challenges.
Our Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program includes capstone projects conducted by graduating third-year students. Many of these projects feature a community engagement element.
Community Health & Outreach
Students, faculty, and staff participate in health fairs, vaccination clinics, STEM education, wellness programs, nonprofit partnerships, and community education events throughout the region.
The OTD program partnered with Casa Colina to as part of Casa Colina’s Beat the Heat summer event in 2026.
The Bee Free Truth Initiative is dedicated to helping people quit smoking and vaping, often tabling at community events to share resources and quit kits.
The Chan Family Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies program helped Claremont Unified School District for TK-8th grade in spring 2026.
K–12 & STEM Education
Future scientists inspire future scientists.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» students mentor local students, participate in STEM events, host laboratory experiences, and encourage the next generation of innovators.
During the spring 2026 semester, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»â€™s included KEY Club and the Student National Pharmacy Association leading Corona Elementary school students through a strawberry DNA extraction lab.
Service & Volunteerism
President Mohamed Abousalem serves on the Board of Directors for , a Pomona-based organization dedicated to increasing access and support to higher education opportunities for low-income and first-generation students.
